“The Use of Stone-Raw Material in the Neolithic. Workshop Areas in the Upper Jizera-River Region” In his impressive work, Petr Sida is dealing with the topic of neolithic use of stone raw materials in the upper Jiszera Region. His work is based on a complex qualitative and quantitative assessment of large collections and current excavations in the concerned area. For the first time we get a vivid picture of the neolithic stone use in an area of the Czech Republic. It is most remarkable for its information about the social existence of those `Stone-Age-humans´. „Castrum munitessimum Bytom. A local centre of power in the early Piast realm.” At the example of a detailed evaluation of excavations in Bytom castle, Slawomir Mozdzioch shows the creation, development and function of centres of power in early poland. In his work he is constandly correlating archaeological and historical data that is leading to new and convincing evidence. By interpretating artefacts and theyr allocation he reconstruct a piast administration centre in a most convincing manner.

„Germanic Antiquities from the Klemm Collection in the British Museum“ For the first time Orlinska Grazyna is presenting a impressive catalouge which is showing the great variety of the `Germanic antiquities´ by the Klemm Collection of the British Museum. The collection was gathered until the middle of the 19th century by Gustav Friedrich Klemm, who was the director of the royal library in Dresden. In 1886 it was purchased by the British Museum. Beside biografic informations the catalouge offers a large bibliography, index and a glossary. Interdisciplinary Research into the Typology, Chronology and Technology of Late Mediaeval and Early Modern Stone Ware in Central Europe as Exemplified by the Ceramic Production of Waldenburg in Saxony” Waldenburg in Saxony makes his first historical appearance in 1330 by producing a high quality stone ware, that was soon distributed all over Europe. Dr. Dirk Scheidemantel delivers a complex work by using latest archeological findings to explain the the morphology, production and distribution of this supraregional significant stone ware.
